Kansa Foot Massage Wand
A bronze-domed massage tool, traditionally used with warm ghee or sesame oil to massage the soles of the feet - a practice known as Padabhyanga in Ayurveda.
Cast in kansa — the sacred Ayurvedic alloy of copper and tin — and set on a hand-turned teak handle, this tool is designed for a simple daily ritual to calm the nervous system and draw the body into rest.
Why Kansa
- Supports the skin's natural pH balance
- Calms heat, irritation, and redness
- Helps settle the doshas
- Awakens marma points in the feet
- Encourages grounding and deep relaxation
A quiet, effective ritual for restless minds and tired bodies.
How to Use
- Warm a small amount of ghee or sesame oil
- Apply oil directly to the bottom of the foot
- Move the dome in slow clockwise circles — first the ball of the foot, then the arch, and then the heel.
- Repeat on the second foot
Use in the evening for 5–10 minutes.
What to Expect
If the skin turns slightly grey during use, the wand is working.
This is a natural oxidation reaction between the bronze and the skin. It wipes away easily and is traditionally understood as the wand drawing toxins to the surface.
Materials & Craftsmanship
- Dome: Pure kansa — the sacred Ayurvedic alloy of copper and tin, bronze in the traditional 78:22 ratio.
- Handle: 100% sustainably sourced teak. Grain and tone may vary slightly between pieces.
- Handmade in Gujarat, India — crafted by kansa artisans whose families have worked the alloy for generations.
- Handcrafted note: no two are identical. Minor surface variations are normal and reflect the authenticity of the product.
Dimensions
- Length: 14 cm (5.5 in)
- Dome diameter: 9 cm (3.5 in)
- Dome circumference: 19 cm (7.5 in)
Comfort in use
Ergonomic teak handle — made to last forever. The teak handle is shaped to support a natural hand position — keeping the wrist neutral, the grip relaxed, and reducing the repetitive strain that comes with long massage sessions. Better posture, better pressure, less fatigue.
Care & Cleaning
- Wipe after each use with a paper towel to remove oil.
- Clean gently with a very mild detergent and warm water — never soak.
- Wipe completely dry with a clean, soft cloth before storing.
- A natural patina will develop over time. To brighten, polish gently with a wedge of lemon and a pinch of salt, then rinse and dry.
- Keep dry between uses to protect the teak handle.
Bronze and teak are both heirloom materials. With ordinary care, this is the kind of object you keep for life — and pass on.

How Dr. Arlini Singh uses the Kansa Foot Wand in her clinic
Dr. Arlini Singh recommends the kansa wand as part of an evening routine for patients experiencing restlessness, irritability, poor sleep, or excess heat in the body.
In Ayurveda, the soles of the feet contain key marma points — vital energy centres connected to the nervous system and internal organs. Gentle, rhythmic stimulation here helps ground the body, calm the mind, and support the natural transition into rest.
